Patta Vanguvadhu Eppadi or How to get Patta Copy or change patta name / patta name transfer are one of the most sought help from users in Tamil Nadu after land registration is done.
If you want to change patta name with sub division survey number for single or joint patta for the recently purchased plot or land, here’s how todo it.
Procedure to Apply for Patta Name Transfer :
Before you get to Tashildhar office , here’s what are the documents required to apply for Patta name change online.
Documents Required for Patta Name Change:
- Land Register Document ( Patthiram )
- Encumbrance Certificate ( EC or Villangam )
- Aadhar Card Copy
- Chalan – Fee paid to Bank ( Rs.40/ survey number )
- Online Patta Transfer Form ( Applied through E-Sevai Maiyam )

How to Apply for Patta Name Transfer :
- First of all you need to note down Survey Number of your land / plot, visit to near by e-Sevai Maiyam and apply for Patta Change online
- Get Copy of document you applied in e-sevai maiyam , you’ll also get confirmation to your mobile number
- Visit Tasildhar Office, get Chalan from Revenue dept section, Fill it with Survey Number you want the land to change patta for, enter amount you want to pay BANK which is Rs.40 per survey number. get Date Seal in Treasury , Revenue, Land Survey dept ( total 3 seals )
- Visit nearby SBI bank-> make payment -> two copies will be taken by Bank and one will be given to you.
- Now take Xerox copy of all the land document, EC, e-sevai maiyam document, aadhar, and submit to Land Survey Department in Tasildhar office.
They’ll take it and it will be forwarded to Surveyor / Village Administrative Officer to visit, survey land and allot new Survey/ Patta number with your own Name.
So this is how the Patta name change process works.
There are many users complaining that VAO and Surveyor asks for anywhere between Rs.3000 to Rs.6000 bribe to change Patta name for single land doc.
But there are ways you can follow to avoid those bribe and get your patta name transferred without giving any single rupee.
Once you’ve submitted Patta Transfer request document in Tasildhar office, wait for 30 days, and if you haven’t got any response from Surveyor or VAO, file an RTI asking for the status of the name change.
Don’t forgot to mention your Application number as provided in the document you got from e sevai maiyam.

Easy way to get patta.
Everything is changed, Take a xerox of your document and ec and if you have fmb sketch with adhar card.
Visit near by esavi govt office.
They will scan and charge you 60 rupees. And go meet your area surveyor, and he has the writes to change name of patta know.
If he ask any Bribery meet the seniors and then inform. It has to be done free as we are charged patta transfer, at the time of purchasing a property.

Nowadays all works are done through online including all banking works, why patta name transfer could not be done online by transferees themselves. Going to eseva maiyam for applying is very hardship. Like transport department, Regn. department works may also be simplified and fees can be paid online for patta transfers.

From my deep heart I like to thank you very much for the information…Even after I spend more then 10 k i am not able to transfer my grandpa land patta into my which is clearly documented and register on my name…sorry to say that bladdy VAO finally said that he has been transfered to other village and updated to check with new VAO… “DO KNOW ONE IMP BLADDY THING THE MONEY HE TOOK FROM MY MOM WHICH GIVEN IT FOR HER MONTHLY SPEND..this i am un aware at that time later I come to know he made fool of my mom….. My father has been one land ,for that land patta name was in my grandma .I applied for patta last 3-8-2019 name change from my grandma to my father name .but somebody ask not a 6000 ,ask 12000-15000 per patta ..this is happen in theni district. from that intermediate guys are ask bribe or high level officer ask .we don’t know anything. as per govt rules fees v.low .but ask more money ..nobody can’t take action..?.and we have all doc copy .why ask more money ..?

my mother has a property after her demise five of her legal heirs got the property subdivided into six equal shares they did not inform this to me. The subdivision document does not have my signatures and thumb impressions on it but my share of land is mentioned in the registered document.They got it sub divided with out the original document and in turn i reported this to the D.C and she was dismissed in the year 2011. Now my problem is i am unable to get the patta for my share of land how and what should i do to get the patta for my share of land? How long it will take to get new Patta from the taulk office(EGMORE). Only xerox copies of land documents enough to get the patta or need to show the original land document.
